Fresh Farm Fare.
The vegetable garden.
Food production is a huge part of what we do here. Growing and raising it, processing it and eating it take up a big slice of our days. Growing the food our food eats takes up another big slice. It's an endless round of feeding, planting, harvesting, cooking, but endlessly enjoyable.
We grow much more than we can use and have the potential to grow much, much more. Every year the soil improves and crops yields increase.
The vegetable garden provides us with fresh vegies, preserves, fresh herbs and quite a bit of animal feed as well.
We have a small orchard and berry patch and as more trees come into production we can enjoy more fresh fruit, more jams and bottled fruits every year.
We have two Dexter cows that we milk through the year. Providing us with fresh milk, yoghurt, cream, butter and cheeses.
Our pigs provide us with tender pork, amazing ham and some of the tastiest bacon you'll ever try.
We raise our own beef, lamb and chicken. Nothing like the supermarket stuff. We get a feed or two of yabbies in season from the dam and the occasional rabbit or hare from the bush.
Every year we try to add a few things to our already long list of grown and made here items.
It keeps us learning and adding new skills to those we already have.
